The joys of creativity.

So, as of lately, I've been given to opportunity to observe a shoot with a professional photographer. He asked me if I have had any experience with studio light and I realized I haven't. It's so expensive and I'm just a broke college student. So, that led me to the hunt of making studio lighting myself. This led me to wondrous DIYphotography.com. It is a wonderful site where people tell you how to make things yourself. I have decided to make my own beauty spot out of a salad bowl... intrigued yet? I was. This site will hopefully open many windows for me. I need to practice with studio light...even though I love love love natural lighting. I also need to find a good backdrop. And a place to set up my mock studio...these are all things amateur photographers struggle with. But that is the joy of photography. The challenge of seeing something and figuring out how to capture it on film to be remembered forever.
I have also decided to do a shoot all about makeup. I got some magnificent "face and body crayons" that were on sale at Urban Outfitters. I'm excited to get to use those....hopefully next weekend. Next weekend I am going home to Brentwood...oh how I miss the beauty of Downtown Franklin in the spring. I am planning on taking some pictures at a farm and the makeup pictures. I am also going back for the Battle of the Bands at my church, Harpeth Presbyterian (everyone should come! It supports the mission trip. It's Friday, February 25 7-10). Those will hopefully be some good pictures. It's a good chance to try low lighting pictures again.
In the long run, I'm excited for the pictures the spring weather allows to happen. It should be a good run of pictures my friends. More to come next time. :)

I see the world through a camera...New year, new lens on life.

So, I've decided to start a blog. Weird? Maybe but I'm mainly using it for my photography. So, every time I do a new shoot I will post some of the pictures as soon as possible. I'm going to start with my next shoot but that probably won't be for a few weeks. So, here are some of my favorites from 2010.
